Fashion product development: idea to production-ready.

The process that turns your idea into a garment we can actually make, with an in-house sampling studio and our own product-development team. It's Phase 1 of Full Package.

Product development is how we turn your ideas, a sketch or an image, into a garment that can actually be manufactured. You don't need a tech pack: our in-house sampling studio and product-development team handle the fabrics, the artwork, the digital patterns, the physical sample and the tech pack, with a precise production quote. It's Phase 1 of Full Package and the natural starting point toward production.

Why the physical sample is the heart of the project.

Before we make a thousand garments, we make one: the physical sample. It's not a formality. It's the standard your entire production is measured against.

Nothing moves into production without a sample we make and you approve. That approved sample is your reference point and your quality standard, and behind it is a team of specialists: fabric sourcing, artwork, pattern-making, decoration trials and fitting sessions. That work is exactly what makes your production quote precise, because only by making the sample do we measure real fabric and sewing costs.

What your development includes.

Development follows a clear sequence, and you approve each stage before we move to the next.

  • We propose up to 2 fabric options per style.
  • We develop the process artwork and brand artwork.
  • We fully approve the design spec: silhouette, processes, colors and measurement chart.
  • We draft the patterns 100% digitally in Optitex.
  • We sew the physical sample and send you the fitting with a measurement report.
  • We close with engineering and costing.

Fabrics and trims, decoration trials and the sample fitting are approved by photo, before we ship you the physical sample and the tech pack, so you can measure the garments and run your own checks. Included at no extra cost: up to 2 minor adjustments to the sample and up to 2 decoration trial rounds per process (screen print, embroidery, sublimation, DTF).

When development closes, you receive

  • The approved physical sample, the real garment, ready to produce.
  • The tech pack: flat sketch, silhouette, colors, process placement, bill of materials and measurement chart.
  • The editable digital patterns, your patterns in native Optitex format (.pds), yours after full payment.
  • The precise production quote per finished unit.

What we need from you.

We're product developers, not a design-from-scratch service. But you don't need a tech pack either: a sketch or a reference image is enough. We always ask for at least one reference image.

What you want to make

A reference image: a tech pack if you have one, a photo of a similar garment, or a sketch.

Your target landed cost per unit

It lets us narrow fabrics and processes so the garment price fits what you need.

How many units per style

It drives the per-unit production cost directly.

Your target date

We plan the whole project around it.

Development is quoted and paid separately from production, 100% upfront. The quote comes from our design-and-development team, not a salesperson, because of how technical it is.

The patterns are yours.

The designs and patterns we develop for your project belong to you.

Once the full service is paid, we transfer ownership of the editable digital patterns to you in their native Optitex format.

Our internal processes, methodologies, pattern libraries and proprietary software stay with us, but your garment's pattern is yours. You walk away with a real asset, not a dependency. For a design label producing across borders, that means you're never locked to a single vendor.

Over 20 years turning ideas into real garments, to the quality standard of recognized brands.

We also develop low-MOQ, design-led collections for US-based labels such as Daniel González. Some of our work stays confidential. Meet more of our customers.

Frequently asked about product development.

Why is development charged separately from production?+
Because development is a real service: sourcing fabrics, making and grading patterns, sewing the physical sample and refining it in measurement sessions. That sample becomes the standard your whole production is measured against, so it's quoted and paid separately, 100% upfront. It's what guarantees that what we manufacture is exactly what you approved.
How long does product development take?+
Sample and tech pack development usually takes 2 to 8 weeks, depending on the complexity of the garment and (above all) fabric availability. Every project runs on its own timeline, and when a project calls for it we've delivered under pressure, like samples in under a week. We plan the whole project around the date you need.
I don't have designs or a tech pack, can I still get a quote?+
Yes. You don't need to arrive with a tech pack: that's exactly what development solves. With your idea we define fabrics and trims, draft the patterns, sew the physical sample and produce the tech pack. All we need is clarity: a sketch or a reference image works. We always ask for at least one reference image so we understand what you're trying to achieve.
How many revisions does the sample include?+
Development includes up to two minor adjustments at no cost: corrections that don't require redoing the pattern, buying new materials or sewing another garment. Structural changes are quoted separately and never done without your approval, so your budget stays protected. If we make a mistake against what you approved, we fix it on us.
Who owns the patterns for my garment?+
You do. Once you pay for the full service, we transfer ownership of the editable digital patterns we developed for your project. It does not include GAT's internal processes, methodologies, pattern libraries or proprietary software.
I already have a tech pack and patterns, do I still need development?+
If you already have a proven tech pack, we can manufacture straight from it. Even so, no project starts without at least a counter-sample: a garment we make and you approve, so you have the reference point that backs any claim.
